Building a Temple to the Father
A group of Urantia Book readers in Tallahassee joins together to build a temple
to pay homage to the Father

by Fred Harris

July 31, 2003: I am happy to announce the completion of the construction of the Temple to the Father in Gadsden County, Florida. It is really stunning in my view and, hopefully, from God's perspective as well.

The Temple sits in a forest on the crest of a small hill overlooking what will be a garden with a small creek running through it. The Temple is a representation of the temple we build within our hearts welcoming and celebrating God's love for us. This Temple is not for any group or denomination, but is for all.

Despite the fact that for weeks we have been deluged with rain, for the three days of the build, it was gorgeous, as per our prayers.

Those who worked on the project included Al Wolf, Meredith Tenney, Dennis Appling, Steffani Murray, Helen Luke, Paula Sutton, Judy Langston, Lucy Harris, Dennis & Wendy Creel, Steve & Phyllis Fisher, Larry Cerro, Carly Langston, and the five Creel kids. Our foreman was George Ford. The cross with the three concentric circles that will be added to the site has been crafted by Madak Kadam.

It is simple, with no walls, and its base is wrapped in a beautiful stone wall that was built by all the participants under the able eye of master mason, Dennis Appling.

From the Temple, a set of steps takes you down to the stream, which steps were constructed over three days by Al Wolf, assisted by me, Paula & Carly.

The Temple is the first step toward the construction of a retreat center primarily to introduce children to God.

The only accident occurred when Helen, while assisting in the construction of the floor, took a misstep and fell, but she is doing well after Meredith escorted her to the emergency room for some assistance.

Taking a break for lunch

It was so glorious to have the gathered family assist in the construction of this Temple and to add their best intentions and daily worship to the process. And it is equally glorious to contemplate the many others in our family that we love and who will join us in worship in this Temple in the future. And who knows who may one day worship at this site? We open our hearts to the universe and to the children.
